A travers sa personnalité, un éventail de multiples couleurs et d'extrêmes nuances sonores caractérisent sa musique.
Johannes Burghoff est issu d’une famille de musiciens. Il fait ses études à Liège et à Strasbourg dans la classe de Marise Douin et de Marc Coppey.
Sa grande passion est la musique de chambre et il décide, en 2002, de fonder le trio Mistral, trio à clavier toujours très actif aujourd’hui et invité à travers les différents continents. Depuis 2014, il intègre le quatuor à cordes Prosperus4.
En tant que soliste et chambriste, Johannes a partagé les scènes internationales -Tonhalle de Zürich, Lincoln Center de New-York, Arts-Center de Séoul, Musikverein Vienne, Palais des beaux arts Brussel etc.- avec Maiko Inoue, Tatiana Samouil, Alissa Margulis, Philippe Graffin, Anne Cambier, Mario Caroli, Aldo Baerten, Marcio Carneiro, Olivier Piguet, Pablo Marquez, Misha Bezverkhny, Diederik Suys, Tony Nys, Sheva Tehoval, Shirly Laub, Nicolas Dupont et bien d’autres.
Son répertoire s'étend de J.S. Bach à aujourd'hui.
Johannes est premier violoncelliste des ensembles belges Bryggen, Ataneres, Boho strings et Prima la Musica. En France, il est violoncelliste de l'ensemble Linea, avec lequel il se produit à l’occasion de festivals dans de nombreuses villes à travers le monde.
Entre-temps, Johannes a enregistré une quinzaine de disques dans différentes formations de musique de chambre.
Depuis 2011, il dirige son propre « Festival International de musique à Jodoigne » (Belgique) www.fimj.be

De Belgische cellist Johannes Burghoff komt uit een muzikantenfamilie. Hij studeert aan de conservatoria van Luik en Straatsburg bij Marise Douin en Marc Coppey. Hij volgt Masterclasses van Janos Starker, Anssi Karttunen, Roland Pidoux, Jean Deplace en Marin Cazacu. In 2004 behaalt hij briljant zijn diploma's voor cello en kamermuziek.
Kamermuziek is zijn grote passie. Naast zijn eigen internationaal muziekfestival in Geldenaken sinds 2011 opgericht met de pianiste Maiko Inoué en sinds 2002 zijn pianotrio “Mistral”, reist hij de wereld af waar hij te horen is samen met gerenommeerde musici als Maiko Inoue, Tatiana Samouil, Alissa Margulis, Philippe Graffin, Anne Cambier, Mario Caroli, Aldo Baerten, Marcio Carneiro, Olivier Piguet, Pablo Marquèz, Misha Besverkny, Diederik Suys, Tony Nys, Sheva Tehoval en andere op bekende podia zoals de Tonhalle van Zürich, Lincoln Center in New-York, Arts-Center van Séoul, Victoria Hall Genève...
Sinds 2014 is hij cellist van het Prosperus4 strijkkwartet.
Johannes is cellist van het ensemble “Linea” te Straatsburg en het orkest “Le Concert Olympique” te Antwerpen.
Hij bespeelt een cello van de bekende vioolbouwer Januarius Gagliano uit 1733.

Johannes Burghoff is born in Ghent (Belgium). He starts to learn to play cello with Jan Van Kelst at the Bruges Music Academy, and studies piano in Ghent with Sylvia Bernier. In 1998, he enters the Music Royal Academy in Liege to study cello with Maryse Douin. In 2001, he is student of Marc Coppey at the Strasbourg Music Highschool. One year after, he is graduate of the advanced level with the unanimous praises of the jury. In 2006, he obtains the prestigious « concert degree ».
Johannes was attending to masterclasses of János Starker, Raphaël Pidoux, Anssi Karttunen and Marin Cazacu.
He performs as soloist, chamber musician or in orchestras as leader. He shares famous concert-stages with with Maiko Inoue, Tatiana Samouil, Alissa Margulis, Philippe Graffin, Anne Cambier, Mario Caroli, Aldo Baerten, Marcio Carneiro, Olivier Piguet, Pablo Marquèz, Misha Besverkny, Diederik Suys, Tony Nys, Sheva Tehoval, Ning Kam and more.
Johannes is member and founder of Trio Mistral (piano trio) who played several times in Japan, and toured also in Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Venezuela, Italy and France. He is currently cellist at the Antwerp orchestra Le Concert Olympique, and plays also since 2005 at the Linea Ensemble in Strasburg.
Since 2014, Johannes is cellist at the Prosperus4 stringquartet.
It's allready seven years that he managed his own chamber music festival in Jodoigne.
Up till now, Johannes recorded about ten cd's with music from Dvorak, Rachmaninov, Shostakovitch, Beethoven, Bruch, Schumann, Sibelius...
Johannes play's a Januarius Gagliano cello from 1733.
